چکیده

Anaerobic digestion process can be improved in combination with bioelectrochemical systems order to recover energy and resources from digestates. An electromethanogenic microbial electrolysis cell (MEC) coupled an ammonia recovery system based on hydrophobic membranes (ARS-HM) has been developed ammonia, reduce organic matter content upgrade biogas digested pig slurry. A lab-scale dual-chamber MEC was equipped a cation exchange membrane (CEM) ARS the catholyte recirculation loop, promote migration absorption acidic solution. On other hand, biofilm biocathode transformation of CO2 into methane. The average nitrogen transference through CEM 0.36 gN m−2 h−1 removal efficiency 31%, ARS-HM loop. cathode compartment helped maintain lower pH value for biomass (7.69 ARS-HM, against 8.88 without ARS-HM) boosted methane production 50 L m−3 d−1 73 d−1. Results have shown that integration allows concomitant high strength wastewater

Control of Methane Emission in Ruminants and Industrial Application of Biogas from Livestock Manure in Korea*

Methane is known to be one of the major greenhouse gases. On a global scale, livestock farming may contribute 18% of total greenhouse gas emissions. Though methane contribution is less than 2% of all the factors leading to global warming, it plays an important role because it is 21 times more effective than carbon dioxide. Methane emission is a direct result of the fermentation process performe...

Biogas upgrading by chemical absorption using ammonia rich absorbents derived from wastewater.

The use of ammonia (NH3) rich wastewaters as an ecological chemical absorption solvent for the selective extraction of carbon dioxide (CO2) during biogas upgrading to 'biomethane' has been studied. Aqueous ammonia absorbents of up to 10,000 gNH3 m(-3) demonstrated CO2 absorption rates higher than recorded in the literature for packed columns using 20,000-80,000 g NH3 m(-3) which can be ascribed...

Biogas production from undiluted chicken manure and maize silage: A study of ammonia inhibition in high solids anaerobic digestion.

The feasibility of co-digestion of chicken manure (CM) and maize silage (MS) without water dilution was investigated in 5-L digesters. Specific methane production (SMP) of 0.309LCH4g(-1) volatile solids (VS) was achieved but only at lower %CM. Above a critical threshold for total ammonia nitrogen (TAN), estimated at 7gNL(-1), VFA accumulated with a characteristic increase in acetic acid followe...

Ammonia Volatilization from Dairy and Poultry Manure

Ammonia volatilization is a major N loss process for surface-applied manures and urea fertilizers. The lost ammonia is important for both agricultural and non-agricultural ecosystems because it: i) is a direct loss of plant available N to the farmer, ii) reduces the N:P ratio in manure, which accelerates P build-up in soils, and iii) contributes to eutrophication in aquatic and low-N input ecos...
